Committees

 

 

Management Committee
The Management Committee oversees the operation of CCfV, including adherence by researchers to the required research, ethical, clinical, and financial standards; recruitment; fostering of research excellence, collaboration and integration, and translation. The Management Committee also oversees the work of the CCfV Communication Committee, the Education and Training Committee, and the Social Committee. The CCfV Director chairs this committee. Members include the three Associate Directors as selected by their respective User Group, each User Group Manager (CCfV staff), the Medical Director of the Challenge Unit and the Director-Elect. This committee meets twice a month or as required.
 
 
Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee provides advice on the direction and objectives of the CCfV, and plays an important role in the five-year external review of the CCfV.
Membership includes:
·         2-4 four external members with nationally/internationally recognized expertise in vaccinology, for staggered three-year terms, renewable once
·         3 Members-at-large, one from each of the three User Groups, for staggered three-year terms
·         1 lay member of the community for a three-year term, renewable once
·         Chief of Research of the IWK Health Center or delegate (ex officio)
·         Director (ex officio)
·         3 Associate Directors (ex officio)
·         Medical Director of the Challenge Unit (ex officio)
·         Director-elect (ex officio)
 
The Chair of the Advisory Committee is selected from and elected by members of the Advisory Committee for a three-year term, renewable once. The Director is not eligible for this post. The Advisory Committee meets at least twice yearly, one meeting preferably coinciding with the Annual Meeting of the CCfV. 
 
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee advises on internal and external communications such as the maintenance of CCfV´s website and reports to the membership. As appropriate, the Communications Committee liaises with Public Relations for the IWK Health Centre, Medical Communications for Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine, and Public Relations for Capital Health. The Communications Committee is chaired by one of the three Associate Directors and will have a Member appointed from each of the User Groups. The Committee meets as required, and reports regularly to the Management Committee and on a yearly basis to the CCfV membership at the Annual Meeting.
 
Education and Training Committee
The Education and Training Committee is responsible for the Annual Symposium program, other research and education seminars as appropriate, as well as ensuring that workers in CCfV receive training in areas such as laboratory safety, research ethics, confidentiality, and animal safety as appropriate for their work. The Education and Training Committee liaises with the IWK Health Centre, Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Graduate Studies, and Capital Health. The Committee is chaired by an Associate Director and has a Member appointed from each of the three User Groups as well as a Trainee Member selected by the trainees. The Committee meets as required, reports regularly to the Management Committee and on a yearly basis to the CCfV membership at the Annual Meeting.
